Welcome to the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, established by visionary Maharaja Sayajirao III in Vadodara. Over a century old, the museum offers a captivating glimpse into diverse civilizations, housing artifacts from the Indus, Roman, Greek, and ancient Egyptian eras, including a genuine Egyptian mummy. Explore exquisite Chinese and Japanese art in jade, ivory, and porcelain, complemented by treasures from Tibet, Nepal, Southeast, and Central Asia. The picture gallery showcases European and Indian art, attracting art enthusiasts and students.

This museum is a custodian of Indian history, preserving sculptures, textiles, paintings, and crafts from various periods. It also features sections dedicated to natural history, geology, minerals, ethnology, and musical instruments, including a colossal blue whale skeleton in the osteology gallery. Sayajirao III and scholars collected many of these priceless objects, granting the museum international renown. Designed in an Indo-Saracenic style by English architects, the building boasts intricate architectural details and wooden elements inspired by local mansions.
